Dinosaurs and Space Exploration

-
This week, Preschool 4
students listened to a story called "Martian Rock." The book was
filled with many different looking Martians. Preschoolers were
invited to use their imagination to draw a Martian of their own, name it
and tell about it. Students answered questions about what the
Martian eats, what it does for fun and how old it is. What an
imaginative group!

-
Preschool 4 students
are also working on a diagram of the solar system, having completed
planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, and Jupiter so far. Each day,
the students learn the important facts about the planets.

- Preschool 4 students learned about stars and
constellations this week. We learned that people gazed at the
stars for so long that they began to see pictures made out of stars.
Then they told stories about the pictures they saw. Students used
star stickers and black paper to make their own constellations!

Preschool 3 students learned that no one has actually
seen a real live dinosaur because they lived such a long time ago.
However, scientists are able to find out about dinosaurs from
footprints, fossils and dinosaur bones. Scientists put together
the dinosaur bones how they thought they were meant to be. We put
together different shaped pasta noodles on a paper dinosaur to look like
dinosaur bones. What fun!

In Religion class
this week, Preschool 3 students learned that God made everything and He
thought it was good. But when God made people, He thought it was
VERY GOOD. We are God's favorite thing. God loves all of us.
We are all special to God. We drew a picture of a face that was
meant to look just like us.
-
Preschool 4 students
learned about the Holy Family this week. Jesus had a mother and a
father, just like us. Jesus worked with His family, prayed with
His family, ate with His family and played with His family. We
thanked God for the Holy Family and for our own families.

Reaching out to Haiti with our hands and our hearts!
-
Preschool classes, along with the rest of the students
at St. Philip School, are remembering the people of Haiti during their
time of suffering. We pray for them each morning and we collected
money to give at Mass for the people of Haiti. We have a bulletin
board with cut outs of hearts and hands. Each has a child's prayer
for the Haitian people.
