Hello 8th Grade Parents and Parents of Students from Grade 5- 7 Reading! Please read through the information below, and check for updates often.

 

 

 

May is upon us.   This has been such a fast and exciting year for our soon to be graduating class of 2010!

In Religion, we are finishing our Growing in God's Love unit and completing our Call to Faith book.   We are also preparing for our Living Rosary on April 30th at 9:30.   The week of final exams starts 5/17th.   Our Ribbon mass is on the 21st with the Memory books being distributed.  Make sure the Graduation fee is turned in soon!!! Our Luncheon, hosted by the 7th grade, is on Monday, May 24th.    Our Farewell mass is on the 25th, the dinner on the 26th, and finally the Graduation Mass is on the 28th....

In English, we are starting our last unit on clauses....DOL continues to be so very important.
We are finishing our DARE and Literature Circles unit in Reading and will conclude with the Diary of Anne Frank.

7th Grade will end their novel of the Homecoming, and will squeeze in another Sadlier vocab unit to end the year.   This is likewise for 6th grade.  (We just started reading No Promises in the wind).

5th Grade is working in their Literature books and will conclude with The Island of the Blue Dolphins.

Congrats to my 8th grades; it has been a wonderful experience, and I will miss you greatly!!

Happy Easter.....April weather will soon be coming!!!

In 5th grade we are finishing our Sadlier Vocab units 9-12....
Next we will be working in our Literature books again and then off to our novels.

6th and 7th grade have been independently involved with Literature Circles while reading myths, legends, and folk tales.

8th grade is in the midst of completing vocab as well, will work on Literature circles, and will be starting DARE mid-way in April. 

In English, we will be completing our unit on prepositions and headed towards clauses.

Religion has been very exciting as we had our final Stations performance (which was moving and beautiful)... now we will be working on the living Rosary for April 30th.  We had some reflection time on the Passion and will be starting our Growing in God's Love course.

March is here....It's almost Springtime!!!

5th is still reading Narnia and are working on their 3-D pictures of a scene from the novel.
After that, we will work on Sadlier vocab....

6th finished their skits for Great Gilly Hopkins....they were so funny!!!  We will soon work on our Sadlier vocab units 7- 8!!

7th is just about done with the Giver.....They are working on creating a perfect utopia.  We will then proceed to our vocab book to learn from units 7- 9.

8th is in the midst of reading The Witch of Blackbird Pond.   Here, they have illustrated new novel covers.....

We are starting a new unit in English on clauses and working hard in Religion class.
The Spring dance is near and the Stations are to be on Wed. the 31st for the school, and the 26th at 7:00 P.M. for the parish and family.

Happy February....

In 5th Grade we are in the middle of our dog racing unit and will start the novel of Narnia soon.

6thn Grade finished their poetry unit and are reading the Great Gilly Hopkins....

7th Grade has also finish their poetry unit with power points on famous poets.  They have poems to be entered into a poetry contest again....
They will start to read The Giver.

8th Grade composed amazing ballads and also submitted poems for the contest!!!  They will start to read The Witch of Blackbird Pond.
They are working on note taking and outlines...
Confirmation was beautiful and we are all so proud of the 8th Grade....

Welcome Back!!!

We have all been working so hard as the new quarter approaches.

5th Reading is back in the Literature book learning about various genres and figurative language terms.

6th Grade has been involved with our poetry unit learning about sound devices, rhythm, and structured vs. free verse poems.

7th and 8th Grade are finishing their vocabulary units and are about to start their poetry units as well.  They will be entering a poetry contest again.  They will learn about various poets and become one themselves.

8th Grade English is starting a new unit on modifiers: adverbs and adjectives.  This will enhance their very necessary writing skills.

8th Grade Religion:  We are working hard on all of our Confirmation projects and have one last GIFT meeting in which the posters will be due.  Always be on the lookout for ConnectEd messages and papers sent home.  Confirmation is on Feb. 1st, a Monday.   We are all so proud of how hard they have worked and are excited to continue on this faith journey!!!

Hello parents of 5th - 8th Grade Reading

It is almost Christmas and Advent is all around us!!

The students are all working hard on their Confirmation projects and are excited for the Sacrament!

We will be practicing for our wonderful Christmas production held on the 17th of December!!!

5th grade will be starting their Vocabulary units 5-8; make sure to study every night.

6th grade is in the middle of units 4-6 in their Vocabulary book

7th and 8th will also be using their Sadlier Vocabulary book for units 4 - 6

Study every night!!!

8th Grade English:  Unit 3 test on Verbs next week.....Religion:  Just about completed their Confirmation book and then onto a new one for continual faith development.

Hello parents of 5th - 8th Grade Reading:
Weren't the 8th Grade girls just beautiful for the fashion show?

We are well on our way into the 2nd quarter....

5th Grade has been enjoying Shiloh and is working hard on many fun
projects...

6th Grade is enjoying Where the Red Fern Grows and has been doing an     
amazing job on their research projects for Legends and Raccoons.

7th Grade is about to end We beat the Streets, a novel about 3 inner city
kids that make a pact to survive the daily trials of gang life and become
successful doctors....Soon we will start Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry!

8th Grade will be next to read We Beat the Streets, truly an amazing
story...

8th Grade Religion is always busy with preparation and service activities
for Confirmation which is Feb. 1st of 2010!!! We are so excited!!

We are working very hard on our Patriot Pen Essays due Oct. 21st...
Soon we will be concluding our 1st book report for the quarter and then
onto our novels....

5th Grade is reading Shiloh,
6th Grade is reading Where the Red Fern Grows

Our 2nd GIFT meeting is Wed. Oct. 28th (general and sponsor forms are
due)-hope you all have selected a sponsor
Start thinking of a Saint's name -paper due in Nov.
