	Welcome! This year is a year of changes for the 5^th grade. We are excited by our new schedules, changing classes, and four new teachers.
	We have joined band and volleyball and are looking forward to concerts and games.
	In Science we are conducting experiments, and in Social Studies we are creating totems and pyramids. During computer time, we created outlines on the six scientific kingdoms and winter count stories to explain our pictographs. The world of decimals is our present topic in math, and in our Religion unit we are studying God’s call. Taking care of God’s earth through stewardship is being explored.
	The Iowa tests will take place in the morning for the next two weeks. October will also bring a trip to the Opera at Addison Trail High School.
	Before too long our first quarter will be complete and Parent-Teacher conferences will take place. We are completing a treescape art project to display at that time. Check back often for updates from our class!
