LANGUAGE ARTS
We are learning about descriptive and comparative adjectives and
articles. Then it is the how, when, and where world of adverbs.
Using this knowledge, third graders will draw and compose shape poems.
Next, each student will use his/her imagination to create a picture of
an animal and its adaptations needed to survive one of the
ecosystems of Africa. Below this, there will be a descriptive paragraph.
Later in the month, leprechauns will inspire us to write. Our personal
narratives will be a showcase for our organizational, sequencing,
describing, emoting, and other skills. These should be very
entertaining!

RELIGION We are One Holy
People who do God's work whenever and wherever it is needed.
As we continue on our Lenten Journey, we are increasing our prayers and
services and marking our progress on calendars. We will also learn how
life was when Jesus was a boy. After much preparation, third
graders will reenact the Last Supper and the Agony in the Garden.
This will be on Holy Thursday.
-
MATH We have been
working hard on multiplication and division concepts and facts. Now, we
will be measuring time, temperature, weight, length, and capacity.
There will be hands-on-activities and learning customary and
metric measurements. Then it is on to fractions, decimals,
Geometry, and multiplication and division by 1 digit numbers. The
Math facts will be a continuous lesson.

SOCIAL STUDIES Farms and
rural areas were just studied. A field trip is planned to help us
experience how a product goes from producer to the consumer. Studying
Chicago, large cities, the industries, factories, central business
section, and neighborhoods will inspire us to create our own Big City
and all that is part of it.
Then we go off to the calmer
suburbs
-
in the U.S.A. and England.

SCIENCE With more dark
clear nights, we can stargaze and find Orion, Big Dipper, Little
Dipper, North Star, and other interesting stars. Then we will
study the outer limits of the planets, stars, and rest of the solar
system.
