Two of the most important and significant
rites of passage for a Catholic child are the Sacraments of First
Reconciliation and First Eucharist (Communion). In the Religious Education Program, there are two years
of preparation for these sacraments. First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
are normally received in second grade.
There is the option to receive
individually with the family at a parish liturgy instead of
participating in the group celebration. Older students, who did
not receive their First Reconciliation or First Communion in second
grade, may receive the sacraments when they are properly prepared.
Parents of older students meet with the religious education director to
be involved in the at-home preparation.
We would like to take this
opportunity to thank the following catechists in the RE Program who work
so hard to make these sacraments meaningful and special for their
students: Pam Reith, Marybeth Fehrman, Sarah Palandri, Elise
Wilson, Sarah Rosenquist, Marisa Ciaccia
The Religious Education Program First
Communion for the 2008/2009 school year will be held on Saturday, April
25, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.
