Confirmation means
"strengthening." It is a time for our eighth graders to
deepen their faith and make the decision to follow Jesus and live his
Gospel message to the world. At Baptism, their parents made the
choice to have them raised as members of the Catholic Church; during
Confirmation, they must decide if they will continue to live as a
Catholic. All of their studies and preparation during this school
year have been geared to help them realize what this commitment to
Jesus, the Catholic Church, and humanity entails. Rather than
viewing Confirmation as an ending, we hope that they will view it as the
beginning of living their faith in a more active and mature way.
In preparation for Confirmation,
students will complete a number of projects. Their parents will be
given a Confirmation packet during the first GIFT (Gathered In Faith
Together) meeting on October 26, 2011. The second GIFT meeting
will be held on November 16 and will feature a faith-sharing panel of
parishioners. The final GIFT will be held on January 25; sponsors are
asked to attend this meeting/Confirmation practice.
Below are some pictures from the Confirmation
Liturgy for the 2011/2012 school year which was held on January 29 at
3:00 p.m. with Bishop Conlon. |
